Harder Water-Lilies - Pink And Rose Shades |
Nymphaea atnabilis is a particularly attractive variety, having
large, soft salmon-pink flowers deepening with age.
N. braceleyi rosea. A fine fragrant rose-pink of medium
growth. The brackeleyi hybrids are also good, ranging from
pale blush to deep rose.
N. caroliniana is a delicate flesh-rose, fragrant.
N. colossea is strong growing and free flowering, producing
its enormous flesh-coloured blooms from spring until October.
Very suitable for large pools.
N. Tire Crest'. A fragrant deep pink of unusual and par-
ticular beauty. The petals open wide to reveal the rid-tipped
orange stamens.
N. jormosa is a pleasing soft rose deepening with age.
N. laydekeri, fragrant, soft rose-lilac flowers. Ideal for tubs
and small pools.
N. laydekeri rosea is a most charming variety which is quite
uncommon. It is a real treasure for the small pool or water
garden having fragrant, rich rose-pink, cup-shaped flowers.
N. marliacea carnea is a strong-growing popular water-lily
producing its very pale pink flowers with great freedom.
N. marliacea rosea is similar, but of deeper colour, the fra-
grant flowers lasting well when cut.
N. 'Masaniello' has exceptionally large paeony-shaped, rich
rose flowers with prominent yellow stamens.
N. 'Mrs. Richmond'. A large vigorous grower with huge
pale rose flowers which become darker with age.
N. odorata luciana. Star-shaped, rich rose flowers carried well
above the surface of the water.
N. 'Pink Opal', a lovely shade of coral-pink and very good
for cutting.
N. 'Rene Gerard', the star-shaped flowers are as much as
nine inches in diameter, the rich rose petals being flecked with
deep red.
N. 'Rose Arrey', an outstanding variety, the rich deep cerise-
pink petals being slightly incurved.
N. 'Rose Nymphe' is generally regarded as one of the love-
liest of all hardy water-lilies. Its large, open, fragrant, deep
rose-pink flowers being produced from spring until late
autumn.
N. 'Rosy Morn' is a good shell-pink variety.
N. somptuosa has large globular, fragrant flowers of rose-
pink with yellow stamens.
N. tuberosa rosea is a strong grower producing an abun-
dance of soft pink, very fragrant flowers of good form. It
should be kept under control, otherwise it is inclined to occupy
a large space and block out smaller growing plants.
